Roasted Agave Grapefruit

Have you ever had a roasted grapefruit? It’s like grapefruit crème brulee. The agave melts and browns beautifully as the fruit’s flesh warms. This anytime snack is super simple and super delicious. For all of you out there who think you don’t like grapefruit, you have to give this recipe a try.

Roasted Agave Grapefruit

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 grapefruit, cut in half and segmented with a paring knife
  • 2 to 3 tbsp of agave
  • sea salt (or kosher salt will work as well)

Directions:

Set the oven to broil and place a rack on the top shelf of the oven. Trim the bottoms of the grapefruit so it sits up straight. Place grapefruit, cut side up, on a baking sheet. Slowly drizzle the agave over the grapefruit allowing it to seep into the grapefruit segments. Place in the oven for 5 to 7 minutes, keeping an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t burn. You may have to rotate the baking sheet as the grapefruit browns. Remove from oven and sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over each half. Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
